Tips for correct sitting for posture improvement when at office

Posture generally is a position the body or its placement in a particular angle or position. Medically, it’s the synchronization between the body and its limbs. A good posture is when the muscles of the body and the joints are interconnected well for the minimum strain on the body. It’s important to note that proper posture improves confidence and also allows for longer periods of sitting without experiencing back and neck pains.

The following are some tips that will help you improve your posture while sited:

· Avoid sitting on your tailbone- this is the bone at the bottom of your spine. Sitting on it for longer periods it causes stiffness, soreness, and even pain. This causes discomfort and hence poor posture. Always sit squarely on your buttocks so as the muscles on the buttocks cover the hipbones. Don’t lean far forward or backwards to avoid tension and strain.

· Pull the shoulders back. Avoid shoulders being hunched and curled forward and in when working on a computer or generally on your workstation chair.

· The chair that you regularly use should have the following features for a better posture:

1. Your neck should be supported by the back of your chair so as to help avoid fatigue and also help keep the neck in a proper sitting position.

2. The height of the chair should be adjustable. The height should be adjusted until your feet are resting flat on the floor with the knees and angle of your hips are 90 degrees.

3. Should have a lumbar support. Your lumbar curve should fit directly into this support that is usually above your waistline. If the support is not available it’s wise to purchase a lumbar roll. Your back will then be in proper sitting position.

4. Use armrests to help support your arms when resting.

· Avoid crossing of your legs. Your feet hip-width be apart and as said flatly on the floor.

· Sit facing directly forward and avoid as much as possible let your head to tip back and chin forward mostly when working on a computer. You place your screen up into a stand, by trying to locate the correct neck and shoulder posture.

· In case you are driving, you should sit firmly back against the seat to have a proper support and avoid reclining the seat too far.

· For the sake of your spine always remember to take breaks more often if possible so as you can stay flexible and circulation to improve.

· Also, learn not tighten your neck muscles as a result of tightened and hunched shoulders.

Always while sited feel your body and think how you feel taking notice of any strains or heavy pressure on any particular body part. It’s is important for this since resultant effects as result of poor sitting posture may cause pain in areas that are not expected. Hence be sure of them and you can check them with your doctor to prevent any further damage.

The tips are cheap to keep but it all depends on your flexibility and how much you are ready to keep a good posture for self-confidence.
